How often do I come in for Chiropractic Care?

How do we determine how often you come in for Chiropractic Care?

The frequency of your chiropractic treatments is mostly determined by YOU based on your pain levels and following through on our recommendations.  The goal is to get you to a pain-free level as quickly as possible.  Therefore, your level of pain is the biggest factor in determining how often you need to come in for your chiropractic treatments and other therapies.  The more severe your pain is, the more aggressive we need to be with your treatments during the week to get you back to feeling good and functioning properly as quickly as possible.  As the patient, you are the biggest factor on how quickly you improve.  As you incorporate other therapies along with your chiropractic treatments, and remain consistent in following our recommendations at home between treatments, you will likely progress to a pain-free level more quickly.

 Pain Level

 Frequency of Treatments

7 - 10

Pain Intensity:

Severe

3x / week

These highest pain levels often interfere with normal movement and functioning - preventing a person from being effective at work and home, requiring a more aggressive treatment plan to see the quickest improvement!

 4 - 6

Pain Intensity:

Moderate

2x / week

While these moderate pain levels may not always limit a person's overall activity, it's only because people typically try to work through the constant pain.  You run the risk of aggravating your condition and increasing  your pain without the proper care.

 1 - 3

Pain Intensity:

Mild

 1x / week

Even mild pain is the body's warning system that something is still not right, and more attention needs to be given to the area to allow for complete healing.  A small percentage of people who have a very long chronic condition or a more recent severe injury (like a car accident) may need to continue at more then once per week for a little while longer even though their pain has decreased to a mild level to make sure any tissue damage heals properly.

Pain Intensity:

No Pain

 Maintenance or As Needed

If the goal is to have no pain - then our mission has been accomplished!  Many people will choose to be on some type of maintenance schedule because they know they continue to have the same stresses on their body from activities at work and home that got them into trouble in the first place.  Therefore, they want to make sure they stay feeling good.  Others will choose to only come in as they feel they need to.  The bottom-line is that it's your body and it's your life, so that means it's your choice on how well you want to take care of yourself.  Choose Wisely!
